What is this product used for?

Adrenal extract is used by some people as medicine to help their adrenal glands. Science does not support the use of this product for any health problem.

What are the precautions when taking this product?

• Always check with your doctor before you use a natural product. Some products may not mix well with drugs or other natural products.

• Be sure to tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan on getting pregnant, or are breastfeeding. You will need to talk about the benefits and risks of using this natural product.

• Most adrenal extract is made from the adrenal glands of animals such as sheep, pigs, or cows. There is always the possibility that a product like this could have been made from the remains of diseased animals.

• Take extra care if you have problems with glands that release hormones. Some examples include your adrenal glands, thyroid glands, and pancreas.

• Take extra care if you are at a high risk for infection. This includes people who have had a transplant, are on chemo, or have an autoimmune disease.

• If you have blood sugar problems, keep hard candies, glucose tablets, liquid glucose, or juice on hand for low blood sugar.

• Take extra care and check with your doctor if you have:

  • Problems with your immune system

  • Problems with glands that release hormones

  • Diabetes

What should I watch for?

• Stomach cramps

• Heart rate feels fast

• Feeling nervous

• Flushed skin or raised temperature

When do I need to call the doctor?

• Signs of a very bad reaction. These include wheezing; tightness in the chest; fever; itching; bad cough; blue skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Go to the ER right away.

• Signs of infection. These include a fever of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher, chills, very bad sore throat, ear or sinus pain, cough, more sputum or change in color of sputum, pain with passing urine, mouth sores, wound that will not heal.

• Signs that your adrenal glands are not working as well as they should. These include long periods of fatigue, dizziness or light-headedness, very bad stomach pains, muscle weakness, loss of appetite, or weight loss.

• Very bad throwing up

• Problems with sleeping, such as not being able to sleep
