What is salicylic acid topical?
Salicylic acid is a keratolytic (peeling agent) that causes shedding of the outer layer of skin.
Salicylic acid topical (for the skin) is used in the treatment of acne, dandruff, seborrhea, or psoriasis, and to remove corns, calluses, and warts.
Denorex Extra Strength is a salicylic acid shampoo used to control the symptoms of dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis. It reduces and helps eliminate scalp itching, flaking and scaling and helps prevent recurrence of the symptoms.
Warnings
Salicylic acid topical can cause a rare but serious allergic reaction or severe skin irritation. Stop using salicylic acid topical and get emergency medical help if you have: hives, itching; difficult breathing, feeling light-headed; or swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Denorex Extra Strength is for external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.

You should not use Denorex Extra Strength if you are allergic to salicylic acid.
Ask a doctor before use if you have a condition that covers a large area of the body.
Ask a doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
How should I use Denorex Extra Strength?
Shake the bottle well before use.
Apply the shampoo to wet hair.
Gently massage the shampoo into hair and scalp to work up a lather.
Rinse thoroughly and repeat
For best results, use at least twice weekly or as directed by a doctor.
Stop use and ask a doctor if condition worsens or does not improve after regular use of this product as directed.

What should I avoid while using Denorex Extra Strength?
Avoid using salicylic acid topical on open wounds or on sunburned, windburned, dry, or irritated skin.
Avoid contact with the eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.
Avoid using other medications on the areas you treat with salicylic acid topical, unless you doctor tells you to.
Keep out of reach of children.
